Old Re-Claimed timber.

Reclaimed timber
Close up of grain
Threshing set with Straw Elevator
I visited my Dad in Lincolnshire last week, he had some planks of green painted timber in his garage and it seems they were removed from a straw elevator (similar to the one in the right of the farming picture) in the early 1950’s as they were ‘worn out’!. I cut them into 7 pieces so they would fit in the car and brought them home. After planing the paint off, I see they are probably teak. Perhaps 80+ years old. I am a bit concerned about the fairly large splits in the grain, so it will be interesting to see how stable they are when I eventually start to band saw them. http://barrylowis.co.uk/
